I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love.

For me they are the role model for being alive.

skillz

Stumpy has mad bone holdin' & chompin' skillz.

Berner boy? Not so much...

Or, not at all, as the case might be.

I've got some furiends that prefer to eat their bones like that too!

I start off like that but then get my paws into it!

I've seen pictures of a few dogs who nosh on raw meaty bones the way the Berner does. Marge hasn't had the pleasure of having one yet, but I think she'd eat it more like Stumpy does.

It's all about technique!

Khyra, I have never seen a dog not hold a bone! he ends up chasing it across the deck!

Oh! Sam! Marge must have bones! Stumpy gets sooooo tired wrestling with them. Plus, I've heard that it really helps to build neck and sholder muscles!

K9friend, It's true! Stumpy will chew that bone down to nothing in no time!

I think you've done a great job so far with this dog. Try not to think too far ahead.

When I was in Louisiana, we had a big BMD (and the Berner rescue passed on him too because they thought he wasn't purebred). He ended up placed on a horse farm where a whole mess of dogs had free run of a fenced pasture and a big barn. The dogs crashed for the night on blankets thrown over loose hay. All that was expected of the dogs was for them to come and get ear scratches and back rubs from the owner. They weren't house dogs at all, but weren't ever left to fend for themselves in bad weather.

There is a home for this dog.

Keep up the good work!
