in an otherwise drab dirtville
I believe it's a Western Tanager. I have an annual visit when the palo verde tree blooms. The visiting bees attract the birds.
The pictures are taken through the window.
In other news, blogger is right on top of the problem some of us are having commenting, as evidenced by this quote taken from the blogger help page.
"We're investigating an issue which is preventing login and comment posting for some users, and hope to have a fix released shortly.
Thanks for your patience in the meantime. — latest update on Tuesday, May 24, 2011"
I mean they were on top of it, over a freaking week ago!!!

Oh man, what a pretty bird!!!
Colorful! Lovely.
What a treat to be visited annually by that beauty! Hope they stick around for a while!
Wow, we have never seen that bird here - what a beauty - love all those colors.
We haven't been affected (yet) by blogger's woes other than missing some of our pals' comments, we sure hope they get it fixed soon.

Beautiful bird!!
You got some great pics of that bird!
Yeah, apparently my sister was just now able to get back into Blogger today after a few weeks of it not working for her. It didn't affect me, but I know it's been a real pain in the butt for a lot of people lately!

OP Pack. I'm still having problems with blogger. It seems many bloggers are back to normal, but not me!
rottrover, I love the contrast of his pink head and bright yellow chest! So vibrant!
Elyse, I can't believe they came out so well through my impossible to clean windows!
Lorenza, I'm glad your blogger is working. Wish I could say the same for mine!
Wyatt, I only get to show off some color once a year and I'm the showoff? Tea kettle meet pot! BOL!!!
Happy, Waggin' Tails, FUREVER!
Stumpy and me
Oh dear, momma is always sad for the poor engineers trying to fix problems like that. Most likely they knew that the software was broken and were told to upgrade anyway and now they have to scramble to clean it up. I sure hope it gets fixed soon.
That bird is very impressive. I bet he attracts lots of ladies.
Slobbers,
Mango
