I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love.

For me they are the role model for being alive.

Sing one for your dog

My Dog and Me
~ John Hiatt and The Goners (Beneath This Gruff Interior, 2003)

"My Dog And Me"
She marked our trail
Up the back bone ridge
How many times can one dog pee
She keeps me high as an eagle
When I'm on the skids
I guess you gotta come down eventually

Buddy I coulda gone that extra mile
For an extra bark or an extra smile
'Cause I never felt so free
It was just my dog and me

Then she gives me that look
Like she'd lay down her life
No doubt she would in a minute, man
She'd face the bullet
Oh she'd face the knife
Just to keep my butt from the fryin' pan

Now she's runnin' up ahead to chase some deer
Comes back to tell that coast is clear
It's a different world I see
When it's just my dog and me

There's a rabbit on the run
Man and beast and sky and sun
Who's talking to the birds in the trees
Why its just my dog and me

Now it looks like we've been makin' tracks
From the crack of dawn
To the end of the day
So its nice and easy down the devil's back
She wouldn't know
Any other was

So its over that ridge for one last mile
'Til we're fast asleep by the fire side
Dreamin' these dreams for free
Just my dog and me

That is a lucky pup.

Do you remember back in the 70s, (do any of us remember the 70s) the movie The Point?
I had a dog named Arrow. She was a 24/7 dog, and not seperation anxiety type. I was just more interesting to my dog back then.

Even though not a sibe, that brought back a lot of memories of our white princess Dakota:) Nice song and great video.

Varga looks like she has quite the life! That was an awesome slide show. I agree, Norwood will be quite jealous of the froggy poses!

This reminded me of my brother's Elkhound, one of the great dogs from our past.

You find the coolest and most obscure stuff - I want your search skills!

The particulars vary, but the fundamental relationship of love and trust between dog and person rings true for all of those we've been lucky enough to meet in blogville. How wonderful that he was able to express this feeling in song.

Khyra, I love JH, too. One of the hightlights of my trip east was reuniting with my John Hiatt CDs.

Wyatt, anytime! good luck on your photo contest! You're a winner, either way!

Barbara, your welcome!

Sallie, John Hiatt does some great stuff! You'd be surprised how many #1 songs he's penned and someone else sang.

Dogsmom, "Me And My Arrow? great song... one of the few things I remember from the 70's...

OP Pack, I thought of the Princess, too...The view from the mountains and her watching over the OP Pack.

Kristine, Stumpy would like someone that could hike those hills with her!

Terrorzinhos, it's always my pleasure.

Heelers, me tooo!

Elyse, I know, right?

Mayzie, glad you enjoyed it.

Jan, it brought back some memories for me, too.

LWD, I don't have skillz, I have time...way too much of it!

Jed and Abby, that's exactly what I thought!
