Stumpy's summer, in review

We haven't done a lot this summer. Trying to save $$$, the gimps and the heat have kept us close to home.

Stumpy is still helping around the house, earning her keep


and meaty bones


We spend our evenings and early mornings watching and feeding the quail, bunnies and jack rabbits.


The cattle have visited a few times.




And we recently had two full days of pouring rain which caused the temperature to drop and the spiders to move inside.

This wolf spider is about the size of a silver dollar. Lovely.

With the drop in temperature Stumpy is once again thrilled to be going for rides.

All summer long she remained hopeful


And finally resumes her rightful place of Chief Navigator


Carefully, she scouts the road ahead for obstructions

(we're only going about 5mph on a dirt road when she hangs her head out the window)

She knows I rely on her expertise


When she's sure the course is set, Stumpy settles back in, to enjoy the ride


Stumpy and I are looking forward to outings to the lake, now that it's cooled off some! Stay tuned!

Stumpy's going mobile!

We brought Theo (aka Theodora, Dora the Explora or "THE ONE") home on Saturday. I've been attempting to create a blog post, since then but blogger continues to refuse to cooperate.

Stumpy would like to give you the nickel tour.

I have no idea when we'll hit the road, full-time. I am hoping for January but I need to replenish my savings so we have an emergency funds and a cushion.

As I said, blogger has been horrible, for months now. We still read your posts and comment when we can, when blogger lets us. At some point I'll probably open a wordpress blog :( and combine two of my blogs. I'll keep you posted. Comments are still closed, because I can't respond to your comments (ON MY OWN FREAKING BLOG; NOT EVEN ANONOMOUSLY!!!!) Spellcheck is not working either, so forgive any mistakes, please. Maybe I should say anymore than usual.

MISSING :SENIOR GREAT DANE

Big Dogs Huge Paws reports one of their senior rescues has been missing since August 25.

A search party is being organized for Saturday, details available on their blog

Bored, Boring and Gimpy

Stumpy and I have been a little gimpy lately.  Stumpy, with her luxating patella and I with my various issues. That makes us boring and bored.

She's always looking at me, as if to say, "Let's go!"


Also, the ongoing issues with Blogger, YouTube and Google have sucked the fun right out of blogging.  Even when my hands are able I, oftentimes, can't comment.  I have to log out of Blogger to use Google or YouTube. I have to log out of Google, to use Blogger or Youtube and I have to log out of YouTube to use Blogger or Google.  In other words, I can only be logged in on one of these websites at a time.

On top of that, I can't upload a picture to blogger about 50% of the time. In spite of the fact that blogger says it's "done" the picture doesn't show up.  Doesn't matter which format, html or compose, I use.  Or how many times I upload. 

Blogger/Youtube/ Google could care less about these issues.

Please know that I am reading your blogs, in spite of my inability to comment.

Stumpy is buggin' out

The Berner Report: July 2, 2011

It's been almost a year since Alf went to live the good life in Laguna Beach. I hadn't heard from his mom in quite some time and was a little worried; not so much about Alf. I knew his beautiful sister Sophie had undergone surgery in December for a torn ligament and was more worried about Sophie and Alf's mom.

Sophie joined her brother Einstein and our loved ones over the bridge shortly after her surgery. Alf's done his best to comfort his mom and keep her warm.

I extend my deepest sympathies to Alf's family. And hope the the joy Sophie brought to your lives will help heal the pain of loss. (Alf's mom doesn't read blogs, but if you leave condolences, I'll be sure to forward them to her.)

Run free, sweet Sophie! I know Einstein is there for you and has a great Bavarian chef that knows all your favorite treats.

Alf navigated a road trip to Oklahoma where they spent the winter.


And took frequent breaks in the comfy area, set up to meet his every need.



They visited with his 2-legged sister who attends school, there.



Alf commandeered the most comfiest sleeping places (a desert dawg, no more!)




He continues to charm everyone he meets. He loves his stuffies!






Alf's as handsome as ever, if not more so.


Oops! I think the camera monster disturbed someones nap!
