I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love.

For me they are the role model for being alive.

Could you hand me a towel, please?

I could easily mistake this Shar-Pei for a towel. I am thinking, too, that the first photo was probably lightened to make the puppy less discernible. Still, that's a lot of wrinkles and that's goal of the byb.

The Shar-Pei is a Chinese breed of dog that is well known for its distinctive features of deep wrinkles (towel look) and a blue black tongue. As puppies, Shar-Pei have numerous wrinkles, the majority of which should disappear once they mature. Bad breeding practices have led to a dog that has too many wrinkles and eye surgery is often necessary. There are quite a few genetic/medical issues associated with this breed.

So what do you think, does Towel Dog have a few too many wrinkles?

The breed is not one of my favorites... but I have to say if I stumbled on something as cute and ugly as this, I would be bringing it home. I can always use an extra towel....

Below, for comparison is, a litter of champion bred Shar pei pups ...plenty of those adorable wrinkles.

Oh they are so cute.. Mom is like you, how can you resist these cute/ugly little pups.
Mom says me, the Blueman was really ugly when they went to get me. Mom fell in love with me, Dad wasn't to sure. I sure am lucky that mom saw the swan in me...

As Mom babbled in my Walkin' Wednesday last week, there are lots of breeds we don't get but lots of humans seem to love them...

I mean, some folks akhtually wouldn't have one of ME!?!

As an owner of a basset, all I can think of is skin issues! They look very soft and squishy. And in the end, they are a dog. So If presented with one, I would like it!

The are fun to see photos of, but I can't imagine actually trying to per one!

LWD, they are wicked cool dogs!

Heelers, no one is happier than Stumpy and I that your mom and dad saw the Blueman's beauty, inside and out.

Tula, can you imagine reaching for a towel and getting a living breathing eeeeks??!!!???

Khyra, it's true..and yet the BYB's and puppy mills keep churning them out...actually it's the poor dogs doing the churning...

Norwood, Be careful! Those towels have teeth!

Pughy, thanks for stopping by! Yes, they are cute and loyal and so much more...including medical and genetic issues sustained by bad breeding practices.

Sandra, yes they have plenty of skin issues... bacterial infections are one of the worst, especially by someone who doesn't know the breed and it's needs. And yes, I would have a hard time turning one away, too...or anything with 4 legs that came to my door...

bettyl! Nice of you to check out our blog! I am afraid the Shar-pei is even more adorable in person.
