I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love.
For me they are the role model for being alive.

Dogs of Dirtville (#1)
Frequently, strange dogs pass through our yard. Most don't stop to visit because Stumpy fools them with her bluster and charge. This guy wasn't phased, in the least. He stopped to say hello with his buddy. They're new neighbors and live down the street. Unlike most, they seem well fed. They escape their fenced enclosure every once in awhile.
His buddy took off as soon as I came out, and this guy followed right along. Five minutes later their owners drove up the street in pursuit and returned, a few minutes later, with the dogs in the cab of the truck.
I know Stumpy wishes they would have stayed to play. I'm happy these two have a family that loves them. But if we could get one of those skinny ferals to hang out, I wouldn't be sad.

The neighbor resembles my departed Atlas, on a smaller scale. Stumpy sent him packing!
Wow - he sure took off. Do you have a lot of feral dogs around? That is sad.
Ernie,Sasha,Chica,Lucas
We still think Stumpy needs a playmate:) Ducking now.
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
We used to have a neighbor dog that looked like that too. Her name was 'Sara', and she was in love with our first Airedale 'Leo'. She would spend hours in our yard and if Leo came in the house, she would sit outside our door and howl.
She even brought him a dead chicken once...BOL
Stumpy, has your new friend given you any cool pressies yet?
Wyatt's Mom
You and Stumpy are an awesome feral dog rescue team. Hoping you can entice someone else into Stumpy's chair :-)
That dog kind of reminds me of Zona...the coloring and the build! We agree with rottrover, you need another dog to take residence in Stumpy's chair!! :)
Elyse and Riley
There's nothing sadder than seeing a feral pup. It really breaks my heart. I know they seek pack life more than anything, and some may be content living in wild groups, but these groups aren't viable over time. People don't tolerate wild dogs running around, and will eventually kill them. I'm quite sure given the choice between warm comfort and a life of wandering, all dogs would choose the reliability and companionship of a good home, I hope you're able to entice a few to stick around!
I always wonder why well cared for dogs will run away when a human comes into the picture. Do they distrust anyone but their own human? Or are they afraid their doggie adventure will be curtailed?
At least those two are loved. where are you guys located? Ive been going through your posts but I can't figure it out

Sandra, atlas must have been one handsome boy!
bbes tribe, We have TONS of feral, dumped and neglected dogs here, It's soooo sad!
OP Pack, I couldn't agree more!
Wyatt, none of Stumpy's guest bring food, but a lot of them need feeding, badly!
Rottrover, we're always trying!
Elyse and Riley, I don't know Zona. but we sure would like one of the ferals to move in with us!
ForPetsSake, A Feral dog around here, doesn;t last long. Between the lack of water, the highway and the people shooting them they don't have a prayer.
Jan, In the area it's because the dogs get shot at and chased off.
Kari, We're in dirtville, silly! i emailed you.
I wish woo had a pal too!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
i totally agree that miss stumpy needs a bro or sis, so maybe it's time to pull out the steaks the next time a feral doggie comes on by. no doggie can resist grillin' meats! teehee.
*woof*
the booker man
I am sure Stumpy enjoys those visitors a lot!
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza
Glad to see Stumpy met the neighbors, but we hope their people fix the fence before something bad happens to those doggies. As you've pointed out, it's not a safe neighborhood to be a dog on the loose. Doesn't sound like it's a safe neighborhood to be a dog, period.
Jed & Abby
Well, at least your neighbor knows where to look when there is a jail break.
Mango Momma
Khyra, If wishes were dollar bills we'd have a boat load of money and more than a couple dogs!
Booker, we definitely try to entice the ferals and strays to stick around.
Lorenza, Stumpy loves for visitors to come and play with her.
Jed and Abby, it's true Dirtville is not a friendly place for dogs to roam. these particular neighbors always seem to be right behind their dogs.
Mango, We're glad to provide a layover point!
I bet life isn't long lived for a feral in that territory. I hope you can entice as many as possible to hang out with you and Stumpy.
Oh neighbors. I think regular visits are in order. Play is a must for my gal stumpy. I wish i was the neighbor cruising ove. BTW why stumpy are you on a string? huh?
norwood
Helen, I see a lot of really skinny, scared dogs running around. it's nice to see two that appear well cared for!
Nordude, Stumpy wishes they would visit more frequently! Stumpy's on a string because every once in awhile she decides to go exploring, after which she is put on restriction. Plus, the coyote moms are out with their pups about now. And we've had quite a few ferals and strys hanging out.
