I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love.

For me they are the role model for being alive.

There's snow on them thar hills!

Dirtville is a micro environment. We are surrounded by mountains and my house is about 4,000 feet above sea level. The base of this mountain range is is about a mile from our house. Monday we received much needed rain. When I awoke Tuesday morning, the peaks surrounding us were blanketed with the white stuff.

I love the snow. I grew up in New England and my high school years were spent in the New York snow belt. I skied and skated most of my life. I even loved shoveling snow (the women in my family are crazy like that, we like shoveling horse poop, too.) These days, however, I like it best when I can enjoy it's beauty from a distance.

Stumpy, on the other hand, HATES the cold, HATES rain and putting her foot in the cold white stuff is torture. She goes in and out to do her business, but I often have to bribe her. Sometimes I think she is going for the Guinness book of records.

I think she is waiting for the snow to melt, here, and for the rain to stop. She's looking pretty annoyed, too.

I liked shoveling horse poop, too, back when I was involved with horses. In fact, the mere mention of it makes me nostalgic.. my boyfriend of course thinks I'm crazy!

Oh Stumpy
That white stuff is so much fun.. beats being hot. I love to zoom, then slide into it and followed by a few bits of it. IT's a great canvas too.

Khrya, You enjoy it all you want, we'll watch from here!

Wizz, A warm coat helps. Stumpy has a minpin coat, doesn't do a thing to keep her warm or dry.

Heelers, Stumpy may get out in the snow (not if she has any choice in the matter) but there will be no enjoyment involved...except maybe me laughing at her wimpy self.

Sam, shoveling, raking and picking...what could be more fun than that? Of course, it's easy to be nostalgic about it now that I am not up at 4am out in the cold actually doing it....

Norwood, Stumpy will watch from inside and when you come in she will warm you up!

WWW, not to cold, the wind has let up and that helps. Last year at this time, due to all my plans going awry, I was in atrailer without too much heat or insulation. My current abode has all kinds of modern comforts!
