I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love.

For me they are the role model for being alive.

Christmas (cards) arrive in Dirtville

Stumpy was thrilled!

She inspected each card!

Tasted them.

She admired each furends picture

Reminisced about the times back East we spent with FAD, FAD and Nor-wham

Talked about our next trip east and how we would make sure to catch up with Mayzie, Tula and Miss Kylie

We wished we were on the beach in sunny Florida, with Roo .

And Stumpy crossed her paws, sending some pawer to Blueberry and her family.

Then I wiped the peanut butter off the cards and gave Stumpy a peanut butter bone.

Mail service in dirtville is a little on the tricky side, which is only slightly better than non-existant. I don't have home delivery. I go to the post office once a week, if I have something else to do in town. Since there really isn't anything to do in town, sometimes I don't make it there for a couple of weeks. I got a card from my sister, also yesterday. A Thanksgiving Day card that was mailed on November 22.

As a retired Letter Carrier for the USPS, I have nothing but admiration and respect for postal workers. The automated machinery leaves a lot to de desired (as do the ties in the ivory tower ::waves and flips them off::!) Plus, this is a contract office, so there's a world of difference. Dirtville's mail, after leaving the originating distribution center, goes through at least 3 offices/sorting facilites. that's 2 more than normal mail in normal places.

Maybe you could get a guy on a pony to bring your mail out to you! Thank goodness for computers!

We were going to suggest pony express too.

At least they arrived in one piece! Sometimes it's nice to receive cards and gifts a little late. It keeps the holiday cheer going into the new year!

I've heard it said we should have Christmas every day, so what's a few weeks later?
I've been thinking of going to post office delivery for the winter and getting there once or twice a month. nothing I receive is in the category Time is of the Essence.
And this past month for the first time (as far as I know) things I expected (blog hop prizes) did not get delivered. :( I am used to the magazines coming preshredded.

Stumpy and Stella share that finely tuned snooter that tells them where the card is from, where its been, if they have dogs and numerous other things.

I don't bring a piece of mail into our house without Stella giving it the once over sniff!

Cheers,

Jp

Oh, yeah. I just luvs to snuffle all the cards and packages that come in the mail. But can you believe it? Mom has not ever once put peanut butter on any of 'em. I've been cheated!

Gosh, I can't believes it takes your mail so long to get to you. Seems like the Wobbler made it there in record time.

Wyatt, we can't even get a real plumber or electrician to come out here!

Jan, NO-ONE comes to dirtville, unless they have to (except me, when I didn't know any better)

Elyse and Riley, Stumpy especially loved the PB I put on them!

Kristine, Believe it or not I actually like getting cards, etc., after the fact.

Dogsmom, My sister tells me Christmas is a season not a single day event!

Khyra, you better put solid rubber wheels on your sleigh, other wise you won't make it!

Stella and Jo, Stumpy does insist on checking everything thouroughly before it enters the house!

El'bow and Hauwii! Stumpy did think those cards were pretty tasty!

Mayzie, Now she knows, no more excuses! There's no rhyme or reason to how anything works (or doesn't) in dirtville!

I wish I got my mail less often since it's normally filled with junk and bills!

Stumpy! I just saw your frog post. OMD, it is the exact same frog. They must have had a sale on those frogs, for the Parks and Recreation folks...haha!
Anytime you can make it up this way, give us a holler. Stumpy, you can swim in our frog pond and we even have a separate guest place for you and your mom. Boy, would we have a lot of good times to blog about!

Wow, guess mama will stop complaining when the mail doesn't come until 5 p.m. some days. Guess better late than never is true at least some of the time. And we figure Stumpy's ears [and nose] will give plenty of coyote warning.

K9Friend, that's one of the perks of not having home delvery: no junk mail. The bills find me on line, however. :(

OP Pack, I have a REALLY hard time going to town in the hours that mail pick up is available, so they could have been there for at least a week. I kept telling myself...

Wyatt, I am so hoping it won't be too much longer before I get to the PNW! It's been about 30 years, since my travels took me that way.

Lorenza, it's rather scary to think that the USPS is the best in the world. I can't imagine what people in other countries deal with. although, I have heard some pretty crazy stories!

Roo, since leaving civilization I've hardly seen a pigeon(rodent with feathers) I'd like to keep it that way. My life runs on NDN time. There's no such thing as late.

Phyllis, Since most days I (happily) don't know what day of the week or the date, and the only times I recognize are waking up time, light time, breakfast time, time to take Stumpy out, time to do laundry, time to clean, time for lunch, time to go for a walk, and dinner time, dark time, time for bed, etc., there really is no late in my scheme of things.
