I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love.

For me they are the role model for being alive.

More fun from Tuesday or ...

... The REAL reason we were in Nevada

After we left the dog park we went over to our friend and blogger Paula's house. Paula has a friend who is selling their RV and it sounded very promising. So, from there we went to see what could turn out to be Stumpy's new house on wheels.

We loved the RV, but will get a couple of inspections, one for the chassis and one for the "house" before the final decision is made. You can read more about it here, if you wish.

While we were there, Stumpy thought she would take a dip in the pool. Sorry! No pictures because I went into an instant panic. Not expecting her to go swimming, I hadn't shown her where the stairs were and her newly developed sense of independence kept her from listening to me (see previous posts with regard to boot camp) No, I didn't have to go swimming. She finally decided, after swimming in circles, that maybe the best plan WAS to listen. There's a lesson there, Miss Bratty!

Paula's friend has a regular little farm complete with chickens, a goat, a pig, and three horses; two of which are minis. Stumpy turned into ranch dog supreme and proceeded to attempt to herd the horses. When the full-size horse decided she wanted Stumpy dead, we called her away from the horses.

Next, Stumpy had a little visit with the goat. The goat was in no mood to play.

I was cheering for the goat, just so you know.

To Stumpy's credit, she did at least look at me when I called her.

Paula, by the way, runs the Huppie Syndicate, a horse rescue dedicated to giving abused and neglected horses love, training and a chance for a wonderful life. The horses below are available for adoption to a wonderful home with references and the ability to care for these gorgeous animals.

Click on their names to find out more about them.

The Huppie Syndicate also offered their help with Alf, when I was looking for his happily forever after home.

Boot camp began yesterday, Khyra. Your astute observation, in yesterday's comments, forced my hand. Stumpy says, "Thanks alot!"

Boy, if I had a little camper like that, I'd head to the mountains every chance I got!!! I hope it works out for you :)

Awesome looking RV (I went to your other site and checked it out)! How exciting it would be to have one of your own...or for Stumpy to have her own RV!! :)

How is it that Stumpy (who is a cattle dog mix) has more herding instincts than Riley? Sigh. Riley has zero interest in herding anything. I call her my "Australian Retriever" because she has more retrieving instincts than herding instincts! Riley met some sheep and a donkey one time and just barked at them...what am I going to do with her?

Way to go, Stumpy, on deciding to go swimming in the pool!! Too bad Mom didn't like that too much. Just tell her it was part of boot camp, swimming laps in the pool! Too bad she's got you in boot camp now...maybe you can feign injury again!!

Stumpy,

You are getting to be a real sassy pants...BOL.
You need to work on your herding skills. Tell your mom, that you need your very own goat to practice with! They are small, I don't think they eat too much. It could probably ride in the RV with you! I have lots more great ideas :)

Sounds to me like Stumpy had fun! I hope things work out for the new house and that all those beautiful horses get homes!

Stumpy, you do NOT mess with goats. Listen to the Mango. They can be most gruff. Hope boot camp does the trick. Then maybe you can teach me and Pea a reliable recall.

The look on that goats face is PAWSOME!! I think you almost got busted in the face Stumpy! I am not really into the farm thing. The horses in Charleston SC concerned me. I did NOT hide behind my mamma when I saw them. It was just really sunny and I needed to stand in mamma's shadow....

Oh, my paws are crossed for your house on wheels, Stumpy!

And, um, if I were you, I'd stay far away from that big goat thing. He's got kind of a mad look in his eye. AND he has horns!

Oh Stumpy we can see a real cattle dog in your future herding goats and horses. How about the pig?
We think the RV looks pretty cool just as long as there is a spot for Stumpy's chair in there..

Phyllis, I intend to go EVERYWHERE in it!

Elyse, I'll bet Riley will show some herding instincts down the line. Although, I have seen Stumpy attempt to herd, yesterday looked a lot more like chasing.

Terrorzinhos, I've always wanted to get Stumpy a goat of her own, to teach her a lesson, or two!

Carey, Sure! Send Kuzzin Buddy over! If I can't help him Stumpy will whip him into shape.

Wyatt, Stumpy has gotten FRESH FRESH FRESH! and she could use a goat, or better yet a donkey to knock her down a peg or two!

Kari, Stumpy is always having fun, that's part of the problem!

Mango, As you will see in upcoming posts, it's hard to resist the call of the hotdog.

Hearbeats, I wish I was a better photographer with a better camera . The few pictures I took did not begin to demonstate the awesomeness of the short encounter.

Mayziegal, Thanks for keeping your paws crossed for us. Stumpy thinks she's tough enough to handle anything, even that 1200 pound horse!

Heelers, we were warned about the pig and fortunately her pen was Stumpy proof.

Just think of all the traveling you could do with that camper. Horses are beautiful.

Go easy on Stumpy - she is a sweetie:)

That goat is huge! Either that or Stumpy is really small. I don't think I've ever seen a goat that size. I have always secretly wanted a goat as a pet. Maybe if I got one as a kid, that would grow up with dogs? They are just so cute.

The horses are indeed beautiful. I hope they find the right homes soon.

Love this post - she's totally having a blast! I want to thank you again for helping with Ziggy - we received the mail and will be sending a letter back shortly (or not so shortly - depending on how soon i get my act together). So just wanted to say thanks!

Oh my, those horses are such beauties. If only I had a place for one of them. Afraid that the garage won't do.

OP Pack, You will see that boot camp isn't all bad!

Kristine, I have always wanted to get Stumpy a goat or a mini donkey, to keep her in-line!

Khyra, you might change your mind about (boot) khamping when you see what if involves!

Sandra, I warned her ... I'm loving the RV, too! Fingers (and paws) crossed.

Pat, I'd have a few myself if the garage worked for horses.

Oh, so Stumpy's got selective hearing. Now I understand what boot camp's for. Hahaha. I can relate. Gotta love dogs that are a challenge and think they know better especially when having to rescue them from big horses and swimming pools. Stumpy's got a grand tail, by the way. What a doll!
